Kalakala a Step Closer to Port Angeles Move

Dec 13, 2000 -- A group of about 30 community leaders from Port Angeles toured the Kalakala on December 2, and met with owner Peter Bevis about the possibility of moving the ship permanently to Port Angeles.

"They have the space, and they really want it," Bevis told The Seattle Press. "A saltwater berth is not the best thing for this old iron hull, but we're going to have to find a permanent home somewhere, and so far we haven't been able to find one in Seattle."            [~It never materialized]
